Packing the hospital bag is the biggest task you would be doing before your delivery. It is often a moment where one gets overwhelmed, and the reality hits that you will be bringing your baby home soon. It is that last leg of your pregnancy and soon you would be holding your little one in your hands.
You have to be packing 2 bags
The reason I am saying 2 bags is that, if you pack everything together you will be very confused and will be digging for things. Hence it is a good idea to have two separate bags.
For the Baby
Before you do this, check with your hospital what are the things they would provide. Like for instance my hospital gave us diapers, wipes, hand sanitiser, Vaseline, a swaddle blanket and an outfit.
- At least 4 swaddle blankets
- 4 Outfits + 1 Going Home Outfit
- 3 Burp Cloths
- 3 Pairs of Socks
- 3 Caps
- 3 Pairs of Mitten
- Sweater if its cold weather
Make sure all these are washed before you pack them in the bag.
- 3 Nursing Gowns
- 1 going home outfit
- Nursing bras
- 4 Panties ( I used the disposable ones given in the hospital I think they were excellent. So, I suggest you use them if they give you.
Hair brushand hair ties
- Warm clothes if it’s cold
- You medical files
- Camera, SD Card, chargers
- Phone charger
The person accompanying you to the hospital must also pack their bag. So, decide in advance who is coming with you and ensure that they have their bags packed and ready. Also, ensure that they are carrying some extra cash in the form of smaller denominations just in case they have to buy any food or drinks during
PS. The quantity of all the items that I have mentioned is considering that you have to stay for 3 Nights.
